We’re sorry about the late posting today. There was a flood in downtown Baltimore this morning and it totally changed the day around.

Here’s this week’s song, Dave Jones. A couple weekends ago, Dave Jones came down to jam with us. He’s been up several times to play music in the past but I’m not sure that we’ve had workable recordings of those sessions. On this particular piece, Dave played saxophone and created a haunting mood with it. Often, it sounds as if the sax is crying out from some unseen location off in the distance. It’s easily one of my favorites in feel and texture.
Primarily, you’ll hear the interplay here between Jeremy’s keys and Dave’s sax work.
Sedate in mood and with a bit of fog covering everything, this song feels so cinematic in nature.
It reminds me of some of my favorite film soundtracks.

Listen to the new album, S+G
During the last couple of months, our music has focused in two distinctly different directions.
Some of it has been very positive with bright tones and content focused on joy and contentment.
However, other aspects were focusing on very dark subjects, some of which I’d consider to be the darkest works we’ve done to date. These songs have been focused towards specific concepts which we’re hoping to release additional material for in the future but we wanted to go ahead and compile the material together into an album for you to listen to now.

Here’s something Jeremy played around with coming home from Easter break.
The easter colors rubbed off on him a little as it was the main influence behind the editing.
Neil brings us to another dimension with this doumbek beat.

Happy Birthday to chilljam.com!

Over the course of this year, all of us have undergone huge life changes, from watching our militaries go to war overseas, to helping our children figure out the first months of life, to new jobs and changing industries as the economy collasped beneath our feet, to finding our way in a restructuring world. It’s amazing what happens in a year’s time in the life of just a couple of people.
This website documents our experiences over this time.

It’s been tough getting the 3 of us together lately. Work, family and other obligations have come up recently in a way that makes it difficult to get together on a consistent basis to play music.
This isn’t new, it happens regularly that we have to do other extracurricular work in order to make sure we hit the weekly releases we post to the site. Regardless of all the things that need to be done, we still strive to make sure we are regularly releasing material to keep the site updated with new and relative content for all of you to enjoy.

We tried something a little different this week. Normally, when it comes to piecemeal recording, we’ve been recording elements of the music first, usually starting with Jeremy and then lay things over it, often ending with the vocal line at the end.
Well, last week, I couldn’t get to sleep and came up with some ideas of lyrics so I wrote them down as I usually do. However, in this case, I had a little melody line in my head so I decided to just lay them down a cappella. Afterwards I forwarded them on to Jeremy to see if he thought he could make use of them somehow.
As you can hear, Jeremy came up with a beautiful piano line over it and it comes together nicely.
I really love the showtunes feel to this song.
