The last couple of weeks have been intensely busy for me and I don’t really expect it to let up until near the end of summer. Several projects are in the works simultaneously and just trying to keep up with the day-to-day stuff can often be difficult to do.

I don’t think my situation is unusual. Many people these days, especially those of us living in highly populated metropolitan areas, are constantly on the run. Our minds are constantly turned on and responding. We’re constantly thinking of what we have to do next and with all over the recent advances in technology, life seems to be getting faster and faster each day.

And… is a spoken word piece focusing on this aspect of life. We’re always thinking about what we have to do next. Always piling things on with another “and I’ve got to do…”.
Stylistically, And… utilizes some electronic beats fading in and out of the background much like my attention span as I am trying to juggle so many things. Vocally, I was reminded of some of John S. Hall’s vocal stylings, similar to the rambling slice-of-life stylings that he would perform with King Missile.

and It’s so cluttered
and I’m tripping over my shoes
and My weights
and Myself
and I want to come up for air
But they keep calling back
Asking for just one more thing
and You rush to the stoplight just before
It changes from yellow to red
And you just waiting for a green and
and you think this is what you should be doing
And you’re just now sure
that you left the toaster oven plugged in at the house
and you’ve got to get back there
sooner than later because it just might burn the house down
and you’ve got bills to pay
and you’ve got mouths to feed
and whatever other cliche you can come up with off the top your head
and whatever i’m writing means something
and i’m so tired
and i work too much
and I don’t sleep enough
and I eat more than I should at each meal
but I try not to
and anyway you put it
and you have to get the groceries
because we’ll run out of the toilet paper
and the bread
and the milk
but I don’t like regular milk
I prefer the soy brand
because it’s healthier for you I guess
It’s supposed to be anyway
and it’s important to be healthy
and moisturized
and strong
and smart
and interesting
and stable
and i should just slow down
and
