This piece is actually two songs in one with the first part being a remix of a previous posting by Joe called And. It starts out with a slow blues riff on the rhodes added to some nice spoken word.  The drums kick in during the second song, Spider, where Joe tells the story of the creepy crawly critter.

AND
and I can’t think in here
and It’s so cluttered
and I’m tripping over my shoes
and My weights
and Myself
and I want to come up for air
But they keep calling back
Asking for just one more thing
and You rush to the stoplight just before
It changes from yellow to red
And you just waiting for a green and
and you think this is what you should be doing
And you’re just now sure
that you left the toaster oven plugged in at the house
and you’ve got to get back there
sooner than later because it just might burn the house down
and you’ve got bills to pay
and you’ve got mouths to feed
and whatever other cliche you can come up with off the top your head
and whatever i’m writing means something
and i’m so tired
and i work too much
and I don’t sleep enough
and I eat more than I should at each meal
but I try not to
and anyway you put it
and you have to get the groceries
because we’ll run out of the toilet paper
and the bread
and the milk
but I don’t like regular milk
I prefer the soy brand
because it’s healthier for you I guess
It’s supposed to be anyway
and it’s important to be healthy
and moisturized
and strong
and smart
and interesting
and stable
and i should just slow down
and

stop

but who am I?

THE SPIDER AND THE SNAKE: A ONE NIGHT STAND

Smooth words trickle lightly from the tongue, working the air like a piston
Her legs wrap round, with a thousand eyes on.
Thrash blindly in the dark,
They eat each other whole.
It’s nothing like the night before
or the night before that. They’re lonely in the arms of a lover.
Open the blinds sweetheart
and let the sun creep on in.
Like a spider cross your pillow
and I’ll sleep safely in your web
Wrap me up so tight
It’s a place to sleep for the night
I’ll stay as long as welcome wears
And leave my scent on the comforter
Come little one, leave a kiss on my mirror
So when I wake up
I’ll slither out the door.
