It’s funny that I discovered Liam Finn’s “I’ll Be Lightning” shortly after singing the lyrics to “I Am Lightning” in my basement. The two ideas weren’t meant to correlate but after listening to and enjoying Liam Finn’s work, I can see how they could be seen to work that way. In any case, this was just something I played around with lyrically. Jeremy laid down the melody lines over top in a similar manner to last week’s song, “Gather the Lines“.

Gather the Lines is one that Jeremy and I did sometime back actually. I recorded the vocals a capella at my house and then sent the track to Jeremy. He then laid down the piano lines to pull it all together.

At the end of a jam session a couple of weeks ago, we all just started banging on percussion instruments and it turned into a bit of a miniature drum circle. Jeremy was rocking the digeridoo here as well. I love the tribal feel here and it was fun to do something totally rhythmic.
