<itunes:summary>The Chill Jam is a collection of artists who each work, either independently or cooperatively, to produce artistic works purely for the purpose of cultivating art and culture. Contributors work on their own time and schedule to produce these works, however, an attempt is made at producing works on a regular and sustained basis in order to retain focus and provide relevant creative reaction toward experiences occurring as they live their lives.
The purpose of this project is to increase interest in modern art and culture and to inspire others to continue to create, imagine and explore.
If you are interested in contributing to the Chill Jam project, please contact us directly at http://chilljam.com for more information.

Thanks for visiting and we hope you enjoy our work.

Explore the album, Space Explorer, for free this week.

Space Explorer was the album that Ryan, Jeremy and Neil put together right before I joined the project so I have very little to say as to the album’s creative process. However, I do remember the day Jeremy came to the session with the CDs to hand out to everyone. I was very new to the project and was still trying to figure out exactly how I fit in. I think I was bringing in a different instrument to try just about every week at the time.

During this period of time, every session was essentially a set of very, very long jams that would meander from one style of music to another. I know Neil’s mentioned that it wouldn’t be unheard of that they would jam constantly for 45 minutes or more at a time! Often the sessions were just explorations in sound. We were just coming up with some of the craziest sounds we could make with the instruments we had. Thankfully, we had quite a few neat toys to alter sound in a ton of strange and interesting ways. Most notable on this recording in particular was Ryan’s bass and the giant effects processor that he was using at the time to come up with different ways of altering bass guitar sounds. I really love a lot of the crazy slides he coaxes out his bass on this recording.

Fun times with exploration.
Check it out.

To download the album:
1 Go to the Space Explorer Listen :: Album page.
2 Scroll down past the player and you’ll see a link labelled “Download this Album”.
3 Simply click on this link and the album is yours, complete with the album artwork.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and interest!

It’s been tough getting the 3 of us together lately. Work, family and other obligations have come up recently in a way that makes it difficult to get together on a consistent basis to play music.
This isn’t new, it happens regularly that we have to do other extracurricular work in order to make sure we hit the weekly releases we post to the site. Regardless of all the things that need to be done, we still strive to make sure we are regularly releasing material to keep the site updated with new and relative content for all of you to enjoy.

However, a couple of weeks ago, we managed to get together for a great jam session in Neil’s attic for the first time in weeks. We didn’t have time to fully set up all the recording equipment as we normally try to do, however, we set up a single microphone in a sort of “Return of the Lonely Microphone” session. Funk E Jazz was one of the pieces that came from this session.

If I remember correctly, Jeremy came up with the motive here and we just kind of went with it. I really dig the very Medeski, Martin and Wood kind of sound that came from this jam. It really felt good to jam together in a full room jam again.

Hope you all enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed playing it!
